What we are looking for
As Print & Product Designer you will be responsible for bringing Elizabeth’s artwork and product vision to life in print, embroidery and on products. Working closely with Elizabeth and the Production team, you will help to develop our designs into CADs, as well as working on creative briefs such as NPD specs and packaging designs. You are a confident and creative individual, who can intuitively translate briefs and bring your own creative flare to the process.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Elizabeth on bringing her vision to life from sketches to final CADs
- Translate watercolour artworks into CAD designs for embroidery, print and products, in line with current ES style
- Emulate Elizabeth’s style in watercolour paintings and sketches to support with design development
- Translate designs across multiple products, experimenting with pattern, for print and embroidery, considering the product shapes and requirements
- Create an accurate, detailed technical specification for each product suitable for global manufacture
- Work closely with the Production team, to create prototypes and selling samples to the required specification, in line with the critical path deadlines
- Create appropriate presentation & branding packs to communicate the range direction with internal and external stakeholders
- Share ideas on current industry trends for new design ideas or colour combinations
- Help to create comprehensive mood and colour boards in line with Elizabeth Scarlett style and handwriting
- Create original print designs and adapt existing ones for product and packaging.
- Manage colour selection, printing methods, and material choices to achieve design objectives, using a good understanding of supplier capabilities and technical aspects of printing.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in a similar role, ideally in accessories or fashion design
- Able to come into our Potters Bar (EN6) studio 3 times a week
- Strong graphic and digital design skills
- Ability to emulate style in watercolour painting
- Highly competent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.
- Creative thinker, with the ability to think outside the box and an eye for detail
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbally
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively on several projects simultaneously
- Excited to work in a scale-up environment, with the ability to work to deadlines and thrive under pressure
- Strong work ethic, integrity and reliability with a "Hands on" attitude
- Able to maintain a strong commercial awareness, identifying opportunities for testing, trialling, and further development of best-selling designs
